Why did you join Tomizawa Shouten ?

I've loved cooking and baking since I was little, and I've always wanted to work in a food-related field in the future

In my previous job, I served as a manager in the prepared food department of a general merchandise store and was also involved in personnel training. However, I decided to change jobs because I wanted to utilize my experience in a more specialized field

Tomizawa Shouten is a familiar store that I've used before, and I was impressed by their extensive product lineup and the courteous service of their staff

Initially, I hoped for a position at headquarters, but during the interview, my previous experience was valued, and I was offered a position as a store manager candidate.
I was attracted to the company because it "respects its employees" and "provides an environment where I can bring joy to customers through food," so I decided to join.

The work I am currently doing

Currently, I am the store manager of the Omiya store and the Kawagoe Maruhiro store, and I manage the stores with a staff of approximately 12 people

I am responsible for all aspects of store operations, including customer service, stocking shelves, store layout, ordering, sales management, and staff recruitment and training.
Sharing information during daily morning meetings and supporting staff according to the situation on the ground are also important roles.

We also work on store layout planning tailored to the seasons and events.
What's required of a store manager isn't achieving results on your own, but rather drawing out the strengths of the entire team.
I find the most enjoyable aspect of this job to be able to work together with the staff to develop the store.

The interesting aspects of this job

The appeal of this job is being able to deliver the joy of cooking to customers through the ingredients we use

When customers say things like, "It was delicious," or "I'll come again," I feel a great sense of fulfillment

Furthermore, the fact that the knowledge and ideas shared among staff members can lead to proposals for customers is another unique and appealing aspect of Tomizawa Shouten

Difficulties I've faced, and things I've overcome

As a store manager, the most challenging aspect was training the staff

Given the differences in experience and awareness among people, we have made it a priority not only to convey the rules, but also to help them understand "why they are necessary."

One of these initiatives is a meeting that utilizes near-miss incidents

Providing staff with opportunities to reflect on the risks of mistakes and complaints has led to an increase in their proactive attitude and has also provided a good opportunity for them to review their own management methods

I strive every day to maintain a calm and fair attitude as a leader, recognizing the importance of doing so in order to create a better team

It's easy to talk to your superiors, and there's a culture of valuing feedback from the field, so I feel it's an environment where it's easy to express your own ideas and suggestions for improvement.

In fact, when I first joined the company, I received a lot of support from senior store managers and area managers. I
believe that I am who I am today because I had an environment where I could easily ask questions about things I didn't understand and where my growth was encouraged.
Now that I have gained more experience, I want to pass on the support I received to the next generation.

Things I want to try in the future

Going forward, I would like to further improve the quality of store operations and also focus on staff training.
I want to utilize the experience of being supported myself to help the next generation grow and create stores that bring even greater joy to our customers.
